Umetada Tsuba (埋忠鐔)
This is a handguard (tsuba 鐔) made of forged iron (tetsu 鉄). It is large in size and likely made to be mounted on a long sword (katana 刀).
The inner most design is that of cherry blossoms (sakura 桜).
The overall shape of the tsuba forms a outer design that I am not sure what it is. It might be a stylized ying-yang symbol (inyo 陰陽) but I am unsure.
The tsuba is signed on the front: 'Umetada (埋忠), Yamashiro ju (山城住)'.
The tsuba measures 7.9 cm wide by 8.4 cm high. The tsuba is 4.0 mm thick at the rim with an overall uniform thickness.
